Nexus-e goes open-source

The following two exemplary scenarios show the Swiss electricity system for the year 2050 as simulated by the open-source version of the CentIv model from the Nexus-e model framework. The scenarios assume either a renewable capacity expansion to meet the Swiss 45 TWh target or a pure cost-optimal expansion.

• Most of the data about Switzerland come from Energy Perspectives 2050+
• Data about Europe come from TYNDP 2024 (all EU countries, weather year 2009)
• Investment costs come from the reference case of CoSi CROSS
• Electric vehicles and heat pump availability are simulated

The code producing the visualizations shown below is not open source yet. The open-source code we mention only produces the raw results from which these visualizations are produced.
